Form I-9: New Hires

Students who are new hires (working at UML for the first time) are required to complete the Federal Form I-9 as part of the onboarding process. This is a multi-step process and all steps must be completed.

The I-9 gets completed AFTER a student accepts a hire offer and BEFORE a student starts working. The information below is for reference only and students will be given appropriate links after they secure a job.

Step One: Complete Section 1 of the Federal Form I-9, including uploading images of unexpired, original documentation (see Acceptable Documents

Step Two: Schedule a remote verification meeting with Student Employment or Human Resources.

Step Three: Attend the  remote verification meeting and have their original, unexpired documentation available at the meeting to present to the staff member.

Again, the information above is for reference only and links will be provided after a student accepts a job offer.

Form I-9: Rehires

Students who have worked previously may be notified by Human Resources (HR) about their I-9. Students should proceed as directed. There are instances where an individual's I-9 needs to be updated or re-verified. If you have questions about the validity of such a message, please contact AskHR@uml.edu.
